Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects predominately dopamine-producing neurons in a specific area of the brain called “substantia nigra”. Symptoms generally develop slowly over years. The progression of symptoms is often a bit different from one person to another due to the diversity of the disease. Main clinical symptoms include: tremor (mainly at rest and described as pill rolling tremor in hands), slowness of movements, and/or limb rigidity, gait and balance problems. The cause remains largely unknown.

Parkinson’s disease is a disorder of multiple functional systems, not simply the motor system, and of multiple neurotransmitter systems, not merely that of dopamine. Pathological studies of the brain of people who die with Parkinson’s have shown prominent oxidative stress, proteolytic stress, and inflammation.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) significantly decreases the prominent underlying oxidative and proteolytic stress and inflammation in the brain systems, as well as improving the production of dopamine in animal models. In clinical studies PBM improves the symptoms of balance, gait, freezing, cognitive function, rolling in bed, and difficulties with speech.

Carmen Care Laser has created an innovative and revolutionary alternative treatment for Parkinson's based on the use of photobiomodulation/class IV laser therapy to several regions of the head. Laser energy detox is crucial in eliminating neurotoxins in the body.
